Over/Under goals explained: what 2.5 really means
The over/under market is a bet on the total goals in a match. Here is how the lines work, with examples, including the quarter lines that confuse most people.

How the line works
You bet on total goals, not on who wins.
Over 2.5
Wins if the match has 3 or more goals. A 2-1 or a 3-0 wins; a 1-1 or a 1-0 loses.
Under 2.5
Wins if the match has 2 goals or fewer. A 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 wins.
Why .5
The half goal means there is no draw on the bet: it either wins or loses.
Other lines
1.5 and 3.5 work the same way. A lower line makes Over more likely and its odds smaller.
Whole and quarter lines
Lines ending in .0, .25 or .75 can be refunded in part.

Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most.
What does over 2.5 mean?
It wins if the match has 3 or more goals in total.
Do extra time goals count?
Usually not: most markets settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Check your operator rules.
Is under always safer?
No. Odds already reflect how likely each side is; neither is a sure win.
Can a quarter line refund me?
Yes, in part, when the total lands exactly on the whole number of the line.
